Okay, where have I been??? I've abandoned my blog since the end of August. Shame on me! Well, I warned you I would be dragged into this century kicking and screaming! I'm an old dog learning new tricks. So please be patient with me.

We spent last month moving booths, adding new dealers and most impotrtantly, adding a lot of new stock.

Mike Miller

I'm very sorry to report that we lost a dear friend, fellow antique dealer, furniture refinisher and restorer. Mike Miller passed away in the early hours of August 19th 2010. Mike was a very special loving person. He leaves behind his wife Diane and sons Jimmy and Micheal Jr.

Mike and his wife were refinishers for our shop and many other shops here is Selma, NC. They moved Georgia a few years ago to be closer to family and the grand children.

Mike you will be missed. We loved you dearly.

This cutey is a hand blown Italian Art Glass Lamp by Marbro. Funky 50's. Hard to tell by the picture but it stands 40" tall. Love the retro color. What else can we say, the dealer had to have it since it matches the wall in her booth!
Eeegadds...I can't believe I have been away from my desk this long. I've got to work harder on this blogging site. From now on I'm going to grab a cup of coffee before opening and try and get a few lines in and or a picture or two. Discipline, discipline, discipline. Wish me luck!

Want to get away from it all?
Grab a piece of luggage and off you go!
Or how about feeling the wind in your hair as you zoom off on a bright shiney red bike!

Margie always has those cute collectibles. Roses, Cherubs, Frills. You know, the GIRLY stuff. Check out the vintage perfumes also in Margie's booth on the first floor. This is just a small example of the perfumes she has.

Kim had a better color for her booth. Aren't the white dressers darling?!! Love them!

I created this blog with the hopes that I would get into a routine of writing and posting. Remember I did say I'm being dragged into this century kicking and screaming. Time for me to get blogging!

So what has Reid's Country Sampler been up too?? It's spring so it must be time to paint again! Freshing new booths with colorful paint amkes it more appealing to botht the new dealer and the customer.

Big bird could hide out in this booth!

Don is up and back on the bike again. The leg has healed nicely and he's back at work. He still comes in to help out now and then. Thank you to all of you who have been asking about him. He's doing just fine.

We are Open on Sundays again. After taking a much needed rest we are back to 7 days a week here at Reid. Come on in!

Pollen. Everywhere the blurried eye can see. As an upper Canadian, I've got to admit that this beats out the snow that's still on the ground back home. My American home has given me a lot to be thankful for. I'll take the pollen and love it!

Here's a nifty Refinishing Trick I got from one of our fellow antique dealers.

Emery Boards - You know they just rip your fingernails when you use them, so find a softer file for your fingernails and use the emery board to sand furniture. It is always hard to get into the small crevices of legs or other parts of furniture you may be refinishing. Use the emery board to get into those small places. It is stiffer than regular sand paper and usually has two textures.
(And, in case you are wondering....Charles Hester did get elected our Mayor again. He's doing a wonderful job. Thanks for the emery boards!)

Selma's Antique Car Classic comes to town Saturday April 17th. They usually park the Chevy's in front of my shop. Yum!

This year they will also have booths on Railroad Street selling Antiques. Come on out for the day and have some family fun from 10 a.m. until....
Flamingos anyone??? Husband and wife team up at Reid's. Linda and Jimmy have multiple booths of anituqes. They collect, well....just about anything! Flamingos, quilts, tools, plants and dogs, Terriers to be exact, 3.

Reids Country Sampler

Welcome to our very first Blog!
As an Antique Dealer I have been dragged into this new techno century kicking and screaming.
We'll see if you CAN teach an old dog new tricks.
